It's All About The WHIMSY!

Keeping busy, a list of sorts...

Due to the need for foot surgery to correct a bad bunion (all the joys of advancing age)...I am grounded for a few weeks.  Unfortunately I cannot use the stairs to my studio so my Flora Bowley class canvases will just have to be patient.  

I miss them..do you think they miss me?

But there are things I can do while couch bound:

1. 2012 NME journaling each morning.

 

 

2. Working in my "NME under the influence" journal..

 

This month Marc Chagall, last month Louise Nevelson.

Loving this class!

 

3. Surf the web and discover an artist whose work I LOVE!

Joseph Broghammer- fabulous!!

4. Spend some cuddle time with the menagerie.

5.  Next on my list~ I think the creation of a collage of all the beautiful shoes I'd like to wear once this boot is off!

Wednesday musings...

Halloween decorations are gradually being scattered throughout the house...

I LOVE this little face!

A Witches Hut at my favorite garden center.  Can you see her? She's lurking inside. ...creepy but wonderful.

I picked the last of the carrots yesterday afternoon, the garden is officially put to "bed" for the season...Yes these are red carrots!

These are yummy Liberty apples from the Farmers Market. They really are the colors of Fall: red, orange, yellow.. 

Just like this beautiful tree in the Church yard...see- red, orange, yellow. Full disclosure- I took this photo last year..

I live in a small coastal community in New England where we are usually blessd with spectacular color each Autumn...

But guess what?  

None, Zip, NADA!  A combination of hurricane damage and wet weather has greatly dampened the season...here's what my wooded yard looked like yesterday..

Greens and browns...just a hint of red and honestly that might be cardinals sitting in the tree! A large number of trees have already lost all their leaves from salt damage...

I am heading to Maine for a few days, here's hoping for

reds, oranges, and yellows there.

Color Palette

 

Change is in the air.  Not brought on by the New Year but perhaps that nudged this project  forward.  

The walls are littered with paint samples....

The kitchen island is littered with more...

Choices, Choices, Choices!

Nature is my color palette of choice, earthy greens..

After ten plus years it's time to refresh and renew...I may just surprise everyone and NOT choose green. 

Did I mention that many of the walls in the great room, dining area, kitchen, stairway and upstairs hall are 20 feet tall?  Yes, all one huge space. There will be scaffolding and confusion for a few weeks as this will be a weekend project.  Of course we must paint the ceiling first.  And I did mean we...DH and I will tackle this project together.

It's been a blizzard outside!

Only a labrador could love this weather!  She does love the snow.  We venture outside in the storm to check on street plowing. The driveway is very long, impossible to hear the plows from inside the house.  #1 Son visiting from LA got more than he bargained for...80 mph wind gusts , a foot of snow and wind chills below zero....

The patio furniture is somewhere under this massive snow drift.
