Encaustic and Watercolor~Who Knew?!

A lovely rainy afternoon playing with encaustic and watercolors....who knew?  I've no idea why I never combined the two before.

Birthday celebration!

This past weekend I celebrated my 29th birthday again...yes well not exactly true...I have reached the age of 59 in the blink of an eye!  How did that happen?  See that fabulous cake?  My dear daughter Katie made it from scratch, yummy!

She and her boyfriend Nick study the recipe for the lovely dinner they made for the celebration, quite the cooks!

A dear family, great friends, good food, I am blessed..

 

We ended the evening with a sky lantern launch !

I am so thankful.

But really...most days I still feel this old.

 

 
 

Colors!

Color palettes inside my No More Excuses journal.  An embarrassing large collection of Daniel Smith watercolors, but I do love them!  There are worse things to collect. I will have add a page with washi tape for my Lukas colors.....yep, I have those too...All my friend Gina's fault!  Check out her No More Excuses workshop here:

A side view of the ever expanding journal I am using for daily work.  The first entry was made on January 1, 2011.  It is now at least three inches thick, lovely!  Amazingly the spine has held up quite well however it is now so large that carrying it while traveling is no longer practical...

separate pages travel with me and are added when I return home. Perfect!

Miss Maggie update:  a full week into chemo therapy and no side effects!  This is a great relief as there were visions of much clean up.  Thankfully we have not had to "crate" her and she is returning to her smily goofy self.
