A weekend of flowers and painting

The first Farmer's Market of the season! I love the arrangements from Robin Hollow Farm.  Each week one of their fabulous bouquets will grace our table.  Oh the colors!

 

 

The lupines are blooming.  Yummy!  Wire caging protects them from the labrador.  Sometimes she smells the flowers too vigourously.  As in decides to lay in them....

The beautiful weather provided an opportunity to paint out of doors..

These are all in an extraordinarily beautiful leather journal my dear sister Judi gifted me.  It grows fatter each day.

Much needed rain has limited outdoor art and gardening opportunities the past few days..I do hope the holiday weekend is bright and sunny.  I am itching to do it again!

Today's To Do

Today's to do list begins with conducting a walking tour of Historic Wickford. This is the final adventure of the year with the third graders I've had the pleasure to guide as they learn about their community from it's founding.  We will end the morning exploring a historic cemetery-always the best part!

 

 

Then home to plant these beauties in the veggie garden.

 

 

Isn't this the most creative seed potato packaging?  Looks like a little present, certified organic from Maine.

 

 

I am experimenting with grow bags this year.  It's always fun to try something new.  With these you can grow root veggies above ground for an easier harvest.  Should also make for longer carrots..with less effort.  I will record this with interest.  In theory a grand idea, fewer speared potatoes at harvest. 

 

And then I will drink iced tea and stare at this beauty!

Watercolor exercise with wet and dry layering...

Practice, practice, practice.....very fond of wet layering but must practice dry layering.  As we know watercolors sometimes have a mind all their own!

Finished a sampler from the very lovely Pam Garrison. I have no clue what it will become, right now it seems it has been taken over as a cat bed..it's a texture thing.

Just a pretty picture

I've been working to complete unfinished projects sitting in the studio. We all have them, right?

I bet you do too...

be honest now...

These canvases were started over a year ago, Artfest project not quite finished.  My own photographs incorporated into a painting.  Well now they are done.  

It's such a nice feeling.

Now on to the three large canvases began in "Bloom True",

Flora Bowleys on line class; put on hold because of foot surgery.

It's going to be a very colorful day!

Finally...FINALLY...back in the studio and able to play with all my toys post surgery.

 I bought a foam floor mat to ease the foot pressure so I can stand for extended periods of time on the hard cement floor...however Miss Maggie has decided that it is her new studio bed....

We will have to discuss this....

I suspect she will win.

Twins!  Sort of...

Occasionally I am fortunate and can encourage

two orchids into bloom at the same time! 

They reside in a small green house all winter under lighting and usually bloom one at a time...as these came out two more went in to rest until the magic happens again.
