Smashing Autumn: Ravens

 

Week 7 in "Smashing Autumn" already!  Time flies!  

And so appropriately the theme for this week is Ravens.

Over-painting a Raven photo , a really fun technique!

And an apology for odd spacing...typepad is being very persnickety this afternoon.....and I am done arguing with it....

Evidence Found

 

A day spent outside, finally, after days of rain and gloom.

Time to put the veggie garden to "bed" for the season and tidy up the garden.  It's that in between time, the trees are just beginning to turn so the mountains of leaves have yet to drop.  The pace is slower.  I like that.

 

 

The signs are all around that Autumn has arrived

 

 

A volunteer pumpkin vine, happens each year, a seed buried and forgotten by some furry creature, that sprouts into life.

 

 

An empty spring nest, dropped to the ground by a strong gust of wind..

 

 

A much earlier sunset leaves time for a little nature sketching while dinner cooks...

I love Fall, do you?

Smashing Autumn: The Harvest Moon

Week Five in Smashing Autumn honors the Harvest Moon. 

 

Some wonderful writing prompts this week and loads of creative ideas for art journaling.  I loved using black paper added to my smash journal, the perfect look!

  

Black ink drawing and collage over a photograph of the moon.

Pastel crayons on black paper to create a glowing moon and an homage to the Aurora Borealis that resulted from this week's CME.

Sneaky, sneaky, sneaky!

As I was blissfully (read  ignorantly) settling in to the reality of my 60th year...My DH and the Sisty Uglers had cooked up a little surprise for me..  

Here they are hiding in the corner of our usual Friday night tavern spot..

and they are a lovely sight to behold!

All flew in from across the United States for a weekend of celebration and, well, craziness.  It happens when we are together.....we can't help it.  My first thought after I wiped away a few tears and regained my composure was - Oh dear!  I don't think I have enough wine!!  Not too worry, DH had made preparations.
